Certificated qualitative face fit testing for disposable and half mask respirators (with explanation / instruction of their importance, correct fitting and storage), either at your premises, work sites or at one of our training centres, conducted by our trained and competent Advisers. Course Benefits

If you wear or provide tight-fitting Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) as a control measure, then each individual required to wear RPE must be fit-tested on the chosen respirator, specific to the manufacturer, model and size (if applicable)” (source Health and Safety Executive Circular 282/28). Recent research suggests that up to 50% of all RPE used does not offer the wearer the level of protection assumed and one of the major reasons is that it simply does not fit.

Assessment method

The test result will depend on the face shapes and features of the persons being tested and the quality of your chosen masks. We can provide you with good quality disposable FFP3 masks (for an additional charge of £5.50 per mask) if you either do not have suitable masks or yours do not fit tightly / securely. It is imperative that persons attending for a test are clean shaven and are fit enough to perform a number of straightforward exercises over a seven minute period, while wearing a hood over the head and shoulders. This and other information / instructions will be sent out to you prior to the testing. Certification with Photo ID provided. Undertaking qualitative face fit testing will assist with compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and will also be providing relevant information to employees for work situations where disposable and half mask respirators are required to be worn / used. It is recommended that qualitative face fit testing is refreshed on a minimum of a three yearly basis, except for those undertaking non licensed tasks with asbestos where an annual refresher is required.
